The Duplex Alternating Greensand Filter System – VIP-1E Series is a professional-grade “packaged” system designed for continuous removal of iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide.
This twin alternating configuration is perfect for large institutional facilities that cannot afford downtime, as it ensures a constant supply of treated water by alternating between two filtration tanks.
Managed by the solid-state VIP-1E controller, the system offers demand-initiated backwash and real-time monitoring to maximize media life and filtration efficiency.
- Twin alternating operation. No unfiltered water bypass during backwash.
- VIP-1E electronic metered or time clock feature & UL listed.
- Solid state single metered demand initiated backwash including rate of flow meter, resettable totalizing meter & self diagnostic status monitoring. NEMA enclosed controller; Delayed or immediate backwash.
- Lead-free brass multiport control valves with self-cleaning, hydraulically balanced positive acting piston.
- ABS tank liner for longer service life. FRP wrapped for strength and corrosion resistance. ANSI/NSF listed tanks.
- 120V/60Hz/1pH transformer included/ twist lock style electrical connections/ 24V control voltage.
- Optional: Differential pressure backwash feature.
- Optional: VIP-2E triplex and/or quadraplex units available.

Note: Manganese-treated greensand plus must be supplied with sodium hypochlorite or potassium permanganate on a continuous basis. Normally a chemical feed pump is used for this purpose. Chemical is pumped into the raw water prior to contact with the greensand filter. Contact our commercial support department for help with sizing and pricing of the chemical pumps.
Note: 1″, 1.5″ and 2″ flow meters supplied with above products are plastic. 3″ and 4″ are insertion type paddle wheel flow meters utilizing copper tees. Other materials are available on special order.
